Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times. Duties
- Plan and prepare daily menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of residents
- Cook a variety of nutritious meals, snacks, and special dietary dishes in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Ensure all food is prepared fresh, presented attractively, and served promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety standards
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Record temperature checks and maintain accurate documentation of food safety procedures
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate specific dietary requirements or restrictions
- Assist with serving meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including food handling, storage, and hygiene practices
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within a care home, restaurant, or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Experience in meal preparation for diverse dietary needs and special diets
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Good communication skills to work collaboratively with care staff and residents
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience serving food in a hospitality setting is desirable but not essential
- A recognised catering qualification or relevant culinary training is advantageous
