About the Role
We are seeking a proactive Health, Safety & Facilities Manager to lead all aspects of health, safety, compliance, and facilities management across our two fulfilment sites. Whilst formal qualifications are a significant benefit, those with a flexible, proactive attitude and industry experience, looking to enhance their skills, will also be considered for this role.
This is a hands-on, site-based role responsible for developing and maintaining a strong safety culture while ensuring both sites remain compliant, well maintained, and recognised as a safe place to work. Working closely with site leadership, you will provide expert guidance on health and safety legislation, manage facilities contractors, and drive continuous improvement across both locations.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, confident in influencing people at all levels, and passionate about creating a safe and productive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Embed the company's Health & Safety strategy across both fulfilment sites.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Working closely with the Head of Operations Support, develop, review and maintain health and safety policies, procedures and risk assessments.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and workplace assessments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain accident records and ensure all statutory reporting requirements (including RIDDOR where applicable) are met.
- Deliver health and safety inductions and training programmes for employees and managers.
- Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support managers in carrying out dynamic risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Coordinate fire safety arrangements, emergency procedures and evacuation drills.
- Liaise with enforcing authorities, insurers and external auditors where required.
Facilities Management
- Oversee the day-to-day management of both sites' facilities.
- Coordinate planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities.
- Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers.
- Ensure statutory inspections and certifications are completed on time, including fire systems, electrical testing, lifting equipment and other compliance requirements.
- Monitor facilities budgets and obtain competitive quotations for maintenance and improvement works.
- Support office and warehouse refurbishment projects where required.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain compliance documentation and records.
- Prepare for audits and accreditation assessments.
- Monitor key performance indicators relating to safety and facilities.
- Recommend and implement improvements to processes, systems and working practices.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, HR and senior leadership to embed Health and Safety compliance throughout the business.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within warehousing, logistics, manufacturing or fulfilment.
- Candidates with NEBOSH General certificate would be at a distinct advantage. However, individuals who are IOSH qualified with at least five years practical experience will also be considered for this role.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience carrying out risk assessments and accident investigations.
- Experience managing contractors and facilities services.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Competent in Microsoft Office.
Desirable
- Facilities Management qualification or practical experience.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Fire Marshal or Fire Risk Assessment training.
