About the Opportunity
We are a new children’s residential care provider, created with one simple aim—to provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive home where young people can truly feel valued, understood, and able to thrive.
As we begin this exciting journey, we are looking for an experienced and compassionate Registered Manager to help shape our home from the very start. This is a unique opportunity to build something meaningful—creating a warm, stable environment for up to three young people aged 8–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
You’ll be supported every step of the way. Our highly experienced Responsible Individual is already part of the team, offering guidance, reassurance, and a strong foundation as you develop the home and lead through the Ofsted registration process.
With all policies, procedures, and frameworks thoughtfully prepared in advance, you’ll be able to focus on what really matters—building positive relationships, supporting your team, and creating a home where young people feel safe, cared for, and able to reach their full potential.
This is more than just a role—it’s a chance to make a genuine and lasting difference in young people’s lives, from the very beginning.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Registered Manager in accordance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards
- Lead and support the Ofsted registration process, ensuring all requirements are met to the highest standard
- Develop and maintain robust safeguarding practices, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people
- Recruit, induct, supervise, and develop a high-performing staff team committed to excellent care
- Create and implement individual care plans that promote positive outcomes for each child
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with placing authorities, families, and external professionals
- Manage budgets, resources, and ensure efficient home operations
- Maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements
- Lead on quality assurance, including Regulation 44 and 45 reporting and continuous improvement
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a children's residential setting
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete – fully funded)
- Strong working knowledge of Ofsted requirements, the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards
- Ability to pass Ofsted's fit person interview
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable Requirements
- Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
- Experience of opening a new children's home or leading through an Ofsted registration
- Track record of achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches such as PACE, DDP, or trauma-informed care
- Experience with budget management and resource planning
Our Commitment
Every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment where they can thrive.
