We are looking to recruit a Production Operative to join our skilled manufacturing team. The role is primarily focused on the assembly and testing of mechanical and hydraulic components, supporting both new and existing product lines.
This is a hands-on mechanical assembly role suited to candidates who enjoy working with tools, following engineering processes, and producing high-quality finished products. Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
The Role
As a Production Operative, you will be responsible for assembling and testing a range of mechanical and hydraulic products, including:
- Steering columns
- Hydraulic cylinders
- Power steering pumps
- Steering racks
- Differentials
Products range from relatively small steering and hydraulic components through to larger assemblies, requiring a consistent focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Working from established work instructions and practices, you will help ensure products are manufactured to the highest standards of quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly of steering columns, power steering pumps, hydraulic cylinders, steering racks, differentials, and other components.
- Hydraulic and mechanical testing of assembled products using specialist test equipment (full training provided).
- Machine operation and machine minding.
- Carrying out visual inspections and quality checks.
- Spray painting of finished products.
- Following work instructions and manufacturing procedures to ensure products meet quality and customer requirements.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Supporting continuous improvement activities within the production department.
What We're Looking For
- A motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
- Previous experience in an engineering, manufacturing, assembly, or production environment is preferred.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to work.
- Ability to carry out physical tasks, including occasional heavy lifting.
- Good communication skills and the ability to read, write, and understand English.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Whatever your previous experience, you will be able to demonstrate that quality, safety, and customer focus are important to you.
Desirable Experience
- Previous mechanical assembly experience.
- Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Experience using measuring and inspection equipment.

Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 5:00pm
- One Friday per month: 7:00am – 11:45am (11 months of the year)
This shift pattern provides employees with a three-day weekend for most weeks of the year.
