Dunbar Education is recruiting an experienced and resilient Functional Skills Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Milton Keynes.
This is a unique opportunity to work with young people aged 12–18 in a highly structured environment, delivering Functional Skills English and Maths and helping learners develop the academic and practical skills they need for their future.
Classes are very small, allowing you to build strong relationships with learners and provide genuinely individualised support.

You will:

- Plan and deliver lessons appropriate to individual abilities and learning needs
- Teach and support young people in small groups
- Assess, monitor, and record learner progress
- Prepare learners for Functional Skills qualifications and assessments
- Adapt teaching approaches for pupils with different educational, behavioural, and emotional needs
- Build positive and professional relationships with young people
- Maintain high expectations around behaviour, engagement, and achievement
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, SEND professionals, and the wider education team

- Has strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Can engage young people who may previously have struggled within mainstream education
- Is resilient, patient, adaptable, and genuinely passionate about making a difference
- Is comfortable working within a structured and secure educational environment
Experience within SEND, SEMH, alternative provision, PRU, FE, youth justice, or similar settings would be particularly beneficial.
