Salary: £34,000- £37,000 per annum (DOE)

Seashell Trust provides care and education for children and young people with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairments, communication disorders, and autism.
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team on a 12 month FTC to cover maternity. As Payroll Specialist, you will take ownership of the payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely pay for employees while leading continuous improvements in processes and systems, and managing one Payroll Administrator. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise with leadership in a purpose-driven organisation.
Role responsibilities:
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Manage payroll schedules, statutory deductions, pensions, and reporting
- Supervise and support one Payroll Administrator
- Act as the key point of contact for payroll queries across the organisation
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and internal policies
- Maintain and improve payroll systems, processes, and controls
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams for seamless data management
What you'll need:
- Proven experience in a payroll role, with supervisory or leadership exposure
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, and compliance
- High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Experience with payroll systems and strong Excel capability
- A proactive mindset and ability to manage deadlines effectively
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
