Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced A Level Teacher specialising in History and/or Politics (AQA/Edexcel) with a PGCE. Duties
- Deliver compelling A Level lessons in History and/or Politics, ensuring curriculum is topical and linked to exam board specifications
- Develop innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
- Mentor and support students through academic guidance, exam preparation, and personal development
- Incorporate creative writing, journalism techniques, and proofing skills into lesson plans to enhance student engagement and literacy
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment design, and extracurricular activities related to history or politics
- Provide tailored 1-1 teaching sessions for students requiring additional support with their chosen options within the course(s)
- Excellent communication skills to foster strong relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Maintain data and track achievement of student progress, attendance, and assessments in compliance with College policies
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching A Level History and/or Politics with a strong understanding of curriculum requirements
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students and support their academic growth
- Excellent communication skills for effective classroom management and stakeholder engagement
- Strong organisational skills to plan lessons, assessments, and extracurricular activities efficiently
- Experience in behavior management techniques that promote a respectful learning environment
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for inclusive teaching environments
- Ability to incorporate creative writing, journalism, proofreading, and tutoring into lesson delivery
- Familiarity with teaching subjects related to social sciences or humanities such as math or related disciplines is advantageous
- Passion for inspiring students through energetic teaching methods that motivate lifelong learning
