Warehouse Operative / Reach Truck Driver
The role
We are recruiting Warehouse Operatives for a temperature controlled food logistics operation running frozen, chilled and ambient storage across more than 22,000 square metres.
You will be part of a warehouse team of around 40, picking and despatching customer orders, booking stock in and out, loading and unloading vehicles and operating MHE. Accuracy matters here more than almost anything else. The stock is food, it is traceable, and it is temperature sensitive, so getting the right pallet from the right location at the right temperature is the job.
You will need a current reach truck licence and powered pallet truck licence for this role. If you hold those and you are comfortable in a cold store, we want to hear from you.
Pay and hours
- £13.39 per hour
- £47 per week freezer supplement
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Rotating shifts, 06:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 22:00
- Flexibility is required. Shift patterns can change and weekend working is needed during peak periods
What you will be doing
- Picking customer orders accurately and to procedure, including temperature disciplines, stacking, labelling and security
- Checking goods in against delivery notes for accuracy and damage
- Booking stock in promptly and recording all stock movements correctly
- Putting away and picking from the correct locations so traceability holds
- Loading and unloading vehicles safely
- Operating MHE including powered pallet truck, reach truck, counterbalance and man up, with daily safety checks done properly
- Following quarantine and non conformance procedures where required
- Supporting regular and spot stock takes
- Completing role paperwork accurately and on time
- Working to SOPs, BRC and hygiene standards, and keeping your area clean and tidy
You will report to the Warehouse Team Leader and work alongside stock control, goods in, health and safety, customer care and external hauliers.

The environment
This is a cold store. You will work across ambient, chilled and frozen areas during your shift, and the frozen chambers run down to minus 25 degrees Celsius. Full thermal uniform and PPE are provided. If you have worked in frozen or chilled food before, you will know what the day feels like. If you have not, it is worth being honest with yourself about it before you apply, because we would rather place you somewhere you will stay.
