We are an innovative AS 9100 certified Seals, Gaskets, Shielding and Thermal Products Manufacturer based in Lymington Hampshire. We design, develop and manufacture products for global applications to many industries including Defence, Aerospace, Hazardous Area, Marine, Automotive, Renewable Energy and EV, along with many other Industries. We work very closely alongside our clients to design and develop innovative cutting-edge solutions, whilst maintaining the highest environmental and quality standards.
Due to our ongoing expansion program, EMI Seals and Gaskets Ltd are looking for a Technical Estimator to join our friendly team. Experienced in implementing sales strategies and has an ability to build relationships with clients to deliver the best possible service along with achieving sales targets. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established Seals, Gaskets, Shielding and Thermal products manufacturer.
The Role
As a Technical Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting our sales and production teams by preparing accurate quotations and providing technical guidance to customers. You will assess customer requirements, interpret technical drawings and specifications, and develop cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Review customer enquiries, drawings, specifications, and samples.
- Prepare accurate quotations for gaskets, seals, and related manufactured products.
- Calculate material, labour, and production costs.
- Recommend suitable materials and manufacturing processes based on customer requirements.
- Work closely with sales, production, and engineering teams to ensure accurate project costing.
- Follow up quotations and provide technical support throughout the sales process.
- Maintain estimating records and pricing databases.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating function.
Key Requirements.
- Previous experience in an estimating, technical sales, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and client service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience within the sealing, gasket, rubber, plastics, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of Gasket materials, Elastomers, Sealing products, and conversion processes.
- Experience using ERP, MRP, or estimating software.
- Engineering or manufacturing-related qualification.
