Amazon’s Accounting department is looking for a talented Senior Program Manager to support our VAT (Value-Added Tax) Account Health team. In this role, you will lead complex, cross-functional programs spanning multiple VP-level organizations and 12+ countries. You will operate with significant autonomy while navigating competing priorities to drive cohesive global strategies. Acting as a strategic Senior Program Manager, you will serve as the connective tissue between Tax, Accounting, Finance Operations, and FinTech, influencing outcomes through data-driven insights and stakeholder alignment rather than direct authority. This position requires managing stakeholder relationships, orchestrating cross-organizational governance structures, and delivering measurable improvements to VAT account health. You will work in a fast-paced environment, drive clarity through ambiguity, and lead multiple simultaneous initiatives impacting global operations.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead global programs to improve indirect tax account health, including development of VP-level goals, KPI frameworks, and strategic roadmaps
- Drive cross-functional working groups spanning Accounting, Indirect Tax Compliance, Finance Operations, Global Tax Data Services, and FinTech
- Develop and implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for VAT account management across global teams, driving adoption across 100+ stakeholders
- Build governance structures that create clear accountability, eliminate silos, and accelerate decision-making across disparate organizations
- Identify, quantify, and communicate organizational risks to senior leadership with clear recommendations for resolution or mitigation
- Drive alignment among competing priorities across multiple time zones and business units through influence, transparency, and strategic escalation
- Develop data-driven reporting and dashboards that provide actionable insights to leadership for decision-making
- Lead root-cause analysis of reconciling items and implement scalable mechanisms to address systemic defects
- Create and maintain program mechanisms (e.g., weekly updates, bi-weekly leadership reviews, working group forums) to drive stakeholder engagement and progress visibility
- Manage program transitions and stabilization efforts, quickly diagnosing organizational friction points and implementing practical solutions
