Job Overview
As a Principal Geo-Environmental Consultant at Omnia you will be responsible for the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, programme and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of Omnia’s services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the ongoing development and growth of the business with involvement in a broad range of business and commercial activities as well as technical drive and development.
Responsibilities
- Managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, quality assurance and client feedback and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications
- Undertaking siteworks as and when resourcing requirements dictate
- Preparation of proposals by understanding clients’ requirements, identification of scope and definition of level of effort needed for successful delivery.
- Managing of data, project related or otherwise as directed and the production of technical reports including both environmental and geotechnical elements
- Review of technical reports produced by others for quality and technical accuracy
- Reviewing and ensuring compliance in the components of the project for which you have responsibility, including drawings, reports, specifications and calculations
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients on projects; Managing all commercial aspects (contract, invoicing, debt management, client management etc.) relating to projects for which you have responsibility
- Liaising with the project team and management team and the client to keep informed of all developments associated with the project
- Develop and maintain a good understanding of the background of the client’s business and industry to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry
- Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H&S regulations and promoting a culture of awareness within the team
- Take responsibility for your continued professional development as relevant and required for the position held
- Assist in developing the Geo Environmental capabilities of the company with support
- Input in to the ongoing development of the business with ideas and views, taking on non-technical tasks as required and any other task as required by the business
- Managing financial performance of projects to achieve budget targets and maintain key performance indicators.
- Experience in writing and reviewing bids, quotations etc
- Carry out other reasonable duties to support delivery and growth.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Relevant technical degree e.g. chemistry, engineering, geology or environmental science.
- A higher degree in contaminated land, hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering, or similar, is desirable.
- Evidence of continuing professional development, including Chartership desirable (or working towards this).
- A full UK driving licence is required.
- Experience of delivering assessment of land contamination within the UK regulatory framework with regard to current and future use of a site.
- Proven ability to write high quality technical reports and manage this process.
- Provide technical oversight and peer review of reports and outputs.
- Presenting, analysing and interpreting data.
- Demonstrable project management experience.
- Commercial control: forecasting, variations, invoicing, WIP and debt.
- Strong HSQE focus; confident input at client meetings and on site.
