About the role
Lighthouse Pedagogy Trust is a charity that creates children’s homes where children can thrive. We are recruiting bank team members to join our children’s home in Sutton, which can support up to six 11–18-year-olds with emotional and behavioural difficulties. We are recruiting skilled, reliable and compassionate bank workers to join the diverse team of practitioners working in our home, to provide shift cover for annual leave, training and sickness.
We are looking for people who:
- Are kind and caring, honest and reliable, and can be good advocates and role models for our children
- Are experienced in working with children or other vulnerable groups, such as youth work, social care, schools, residential settings, prisons or mental health provision. We are particularly keen to hear from those who have experience managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in children, teenagers or adults
- Can quickly build relationships with children and colleagues
- Are proactive and willing to get stuck in straight away
- Can find the balance between being warm, friendly and supportive, while also being professional and acting as a good parent would to hold boundaries and put children’s best interests first
- Can bring fun ideas and activities to help better connect and form strong relationships with our young people, and enjoy going out and about in the community to explore new things together
- Will be proactive in interacting with young people and with helping around the home, whether that is getting out in the garden to referee a basketball tournament or getting some cleaning done while things are quiet
