Job Description
Middlesex University is at a pivotal moment in its journey. Following a challenging period for the higher education sector, the University is on course to deliver its first operating surplus since 2018/19.
With annual income of approximately £200m, around 9,000 students in the UK and a similar number across our campuses in Mauritius and Dubai, and over 1,200 staff, we are focused on building a financially sustainable future that enables us to deliver our ambitious academic and strategic goals.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and leading a team of 15 to 20 colleagues, you will oversee financial control, statutory reporting, treasury, tax, payroll and transactional finance operations.
As a key member of the Senior Finance Leadership Team, you will play a vital role in supporting the University's financial sustainability, growth ambitions and strategic decision-making.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape a recently restructured function, lead continuous improvement and automation initiatives, and leverage the scale of a global university operating across multiple campuses.
We are looking for a qualified accountant with significant leadership experience, a strong track record in financial governance and transformation, and a passion for developing high performing teams. If you are a forward-thinking leader who can balance robust governance with innovation and change, we would welcome your application.
Middlesex is committed to fostering an inclusive working environment.
There will be two rounds of formal interviews. 1st round is scheduled for 28 September 2026 and the 2nd round is scheduled for 7 October 2026.
