Purpose of Role
We’re recruiting for an experienced M&E Maintenance Manager to lead the delivery of electrical and mechanical maintenance services across a number of key Defence sites throughout South Oxfordshire, based out of RAF Benson
Job Description
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role responsible for a team of approximately 15–20 multi-disciplinary engineers, covering both electrical and mechanical services across a multi-site estate. You’ll take overall responsibility for the safe, compliant and effective delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring engineering standards, statutory requirements and customer expectations are consistently met.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical engineering background, combined with proven experience leading multi-disciplinary maintenance teams. You’ll be confident managing compliance, SFG20 maintenance standards, health & safety, audits, performance and team development, while acting as a key point of contact for customers and site stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers delivering self-performed M&E maintenance services
- Provide technical and operational leadership across multiple Defence sites throughout South Oxfordshire
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance in line with SFG20 and statutory requirements
- Ensure all engineering activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contract and Defence standards
- Take ownership of M&E compliance, statutory inspections, maintenance records and associated reporting
- Lead regular audits, inspections and assurance activities, identifying areas for improvement and driving corrective actions
- Manage team performance, recruitment, development, training and overall engineering capability
- Monitor maintenance performance against KPIs, SLAs and contractual requirements
- Work closely with customers, stakeholders, contractors and internal teams to maintain strong service relationships
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Proven experience as an M&E Maintenance Manager or, Engineering Manager
- Strong technical background within either electrical or mechanical engineering, with a good working knowledge of the other discipline
- Demonstrable experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ideally with 15+ engineers
- Experience operating across multiple sites within a hard FM, engineering or maintenance environment
- Strong understanding of SFG20, planned and reactive maintenance and statutory compliance
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop and manage a technically diverse engineering team
- IOSH qualification or equivalent is desirable
- Relevant electrical or mechanical technical qualifications are highly advantageous
