Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Fish & Chip Shop Kitchen Assistant to join our busy team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced catering environment. The successful candidate will support the kitchen operations, ensuring the smooth preparation and cooking of food, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety, and delivering excellent service to our customers. Previous catering or restaurant experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of traditional fish and chips, including battering, frying, and portioning.
- Support the team with meal preparation and food safety procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing utensils, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring all equipment is hygienic and well-maintained.
- Serve customers at the counter when required, providing friendly and efficient service.
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to minimise hazards in the kitchen environment.
- Assist with general cleaning duties to uphold high standards of hygiene throughout the premises.
Skills
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or a restaurant environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and basic cooking skills.
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices within a commercial kitchen setting.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Friendly attitude with excellent customer service skills when interacting with customers.
- Willingness to learn new skills and work as part of a team.
