Role Definition
The Metrology Engineer is an integral part of the business structure to satisfy both internal and external customers through dimensional validation of our affiliated manufacturing processes and products.
Reporting in to the Metrology Manager you will show a high level of competence across a variety of learned skills and abilities inclusive of hand tools, shadow graphs, Co-ordinate Measurement Machines and Portable Arms – Scan capability and Zeiss (GOM) Scanbox. The ability to multi-task across hardware/software to deliver key results, displaying best practice and deliver to timeframes in an efficient and professional manner.
The role is key in supporting decision making through investigative measurement process and communication to improve metrics. Therefore a pro-active and detailed approach is required to fully support dimensional activities for WHS Plastics Ltd.
Key areas of responsibility

Write, create and edit measurement programs, using measurement software – PCDMIS.

Write and edit programs for Zeiss (GOM) Scanbox using Zeiss Inspect Software

Assist the business with supporting NPI, Tooling, Manufacturing and Quality departments with Metrology activities.

Measure mouldings and gauges/fixtures as requested, showing data analysis with professional reports e.g. FAIRS / ISIR.

Create measurement reports to satisfy customer standards and pre-requisites, both internal and external.

Confidently advise / discuss on measurement activities that are undertaken.

Perform measurement tasks efficiently and proactively, ensuring a high standard of work ethic, supported by Metrology knowledge and attributes.

Be able to use hand held measurement tools .i.e. Vernier, Micrometer, DTI etc.

Understand GD&T, work with specifications and tolerance requirements.

Basic first principle measurement attributes.

Be responsible for TPM of work area/equipment, ensuring functionality and availability optimised.

Assist with GD&T support to the wider business when requested.

Conduct measurement activities such as MSA,Cpk,SPC

Support meetings when requested for Metrology input.

Mentor and assist with upskilling of other team members.

Ensure measurement programs are to a high standard and coach best practice to others.

Ability to use Microsoft programs including Powerpoint,Excel

Knowledge of Minitab software
