Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join our bank of staff in providing vital mental health assistance for our clients recently discharged from the hospital and needs ongoing support. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support individuals facing mental health challenges, ensuring they receive respectful, personalized care that promotes well-being and independence. As a Bank Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive atmosphere where clients feel valued and understood and supported towards the goal of living an independent life. This position is paid and offers flexible scheduling to accommodate varying needs.
Duties
- Provide empathetic support to clients experiencing mental health difficulties
- Assist with daily activities and routines, promoting independence and confidence
- Monitor and respond to clients’ emotional and behavioral needs with patience and professionalism
- Support medication administration in accordance with prescribed guidelines, ensuring safety and compliance
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and team members to update the personalized care plans as the needs change
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress notes, and incident reports
- Promote a safe environment by adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures
Skills
- Experience working with children or adults with mental health challenges or disabilities
- Knowledge of applied behavior analysis techniques to support behavioral improvements
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism or special education needs is highly desirable
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and effectively
- Ability to administer medication safely following prescribed protocols
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and team members effectively
- Compassionate attitude combined with a proactive approach to supporting client well-being
