Main Purpose:
To monitor and maintain the quality and BRC standards throughout production and warehouse; ensuring all products meet the requirements and standards agreed with our customers on a day-to-day basis. As part of the Compliance team you are expected to evaluate and correct any quality/BRC issues, and assist in developing continuous quality improvement plans and processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for visually checking the quality of product against the specification on a two-hourly basis. This will cover Thermoforming and extrusion.
2. To test incoming raw materials meet required specification, as well as carrying out laboratory testing for colour, IV, slip tests as required.
3. To take regular samples throughout the shift ensuring all samples are labelled correctly with all required information.
4. Print route cards from IT system as directed by the production plan and create ‘Job Pack’ including box/bag labels.
5. Inspect and verify packing format, labels and paperwork are correct.
6. Check extruded sheet is correct specification, colour and labelled correctly.
7. Ensure metal detector checks are being carried out correctly; any issues are to be investigated and reported to shift manager to ensure corrective action is taken immediately. Confirm and note when issue is rectified.
8. Ensure granulation bags are labelled correctly and pallets are correctly wrapped.
9. Participate in external audit preparation.
10. Ensure BRC and quality procedures are being adhered to and carry out necessary training/refreshers where required. This also includes the completion of all required audits and paperwork, as well as maintaining inspection journals and daily summary logs as required, ensuring discussions are held with shift managers on findings.
11. Carry out Agency worker inductions.
12. Training of Packing Operators when onsite.
13. Stop production line if major non-compliance of specifications, standards or quality is found during the inspection process.
14. Assist with customer complaints (whether external or internal), tracing and checking stock onsite and any returns.
15. Proactively seek and identify areas for improvement.
16. Any other activities required to help support the Shift Managers in maintaining compliance.
17. Police and ensure ‘clean as you go’ policy is carried out by all entering production hall.
Personal Responsibilities
Health & Safety
1. To follow all site rules and responsibilities under the company’s Health & Safety at Work Policy.
2. To ensure you use all equipment within the warehouse/office correctly and it is properly maintained.
3. Report any safety infringement and ensure any health and safety issues/suggestions are forwarded to the Health and Safety Officer.
4. To know the locations of emergency exits and practice correct evacuation procedures.
5. Ensure the correct handling procedures for potentially hazardous products are followed.
6. Operatives must be aware of waste separation and recycling requirements.
7. To carry out all duties in accordance with Company’s policy on Health & Safety, wearing protective clothing/equipment supplied, at all times.
Quality
1. Strictly adhere to BRC dress code, PPE and hygiene standards throughout the site at all times.
2. To be responsible for working to the requirements of the company’s Quality Policy and procedure.
3. To make suggestions as to how the Quality systems can be improved.
Housekeeping
1. To comply with all aspects of company Hygiene standards.
2. To ensure all procedures concerning work station and company housekeeping standards are followed. All tasks that contribute to the cleaning, and maintaining of good, safe standards in all operating areas. This includes the clearing of litter, wrap and debris, the mopping of small liquid spills and the sweeping of fine debris.
3. To make every effort to conserve power and minimize waste.
4. To wear the uniform and safety wear provided, keeping it clean and tidy at all times.
Communication
1. To communicate accurately and effectively with all members of staff.
2. To report appropriate information to colleagues and Manager.
Security
1. To ensure understanding and compliance with the Company’s security procedures including those for IT.
2. To report any unauthorised personnel seen on the premises, and any incident of damage or theft.
