About the Role
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and creative Activity Coordinator to join our friendly care home team. You will play an important role in enriching the lives of our elderly residents, including residents living with mental health needs, dementia and other complex care needs.
The successful candidate will create and coordinate meaningful activities that promote independence, social interaction, wellbeing and enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organise a varied programme of activities tailored to residents' individual interests, abilities and needs.
- Organise arts and crafts, music, games, quizzes, reminiscence sessions, gentle exercise and social activities.
- Encourage residents to participate while respecting their choices, preferences and independence.
- Develop one-to-one activities for residents who may prefer quieter or more personalised interaction.
- Support residents with mental health needs to feel included, valued and socially connected.
- Organise seasonal celebrations, birthdays, outings and visits from entertainers or community groups.
- Work closely with care staff, families and other professionals to understand residents' interests and life histories.
- Record and evaluate activities and residents' participation and feedback.
- Promote a warm, positive and stimulating environment throughout the home.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, patient, compassionate and genuinely enjoys working with older people.
- Creative and able to come up with activities suitable for different abilities and interests.
- Confident communicating with residents, families and colleagues.
- Understanding of dementia, mental health and the challenges faced by older people.
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Respectful of each resident's individuality, dignity, culture and personal choices.
Previous experience in a care home, activities role, mental health setting or working with older people is desirable, but a positive attitude and the right values are equally important.
