We are looking for experienced, caring and enthusiastic Complex Care Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting two young ladies as they take an exciting step towards greater independence.
The ladies currently live with their families, but in time they will be moving into a supported living bungalow together. We are looking to build a fantastic team around them — people who will take the time to really get to know them, understand how they communicate and support them to live happy, active and fulfilling lives.
A little about the ladies
Both ladies have their own personalities, preferences and individual ways of communicating. They are non-verbal, so getting to know them and understanding their unique communication is a really important part of the role.
Good communication isn't just about words. We are looking for staff who are patient, observant and willing to listen in different ways. Their choices, wishes and individual ways of expressing themselves must be recognised and respected at all times.
Both ladies enjoy being busy and getting out and about. Their lives include attending day centres, going to the gym, trips into the city, arts and crafts and spending time in the community.
Music is also a big part of their lives, and they enjoy listening to a variety of music.
We want staff who will get involved, share a laugh, encourage new experiences and bring positive energy to their day.
The support you will provide
Alongside helping the ladies enjoy the things that matter to them, you will provide high-quality, person-centred complex care.
Both ladies:
- Are wheelchair users and use specialist/moulded seating.
- Require hoisting and support with moving and handling.
- Require support with personal care.
- Are PEG fed and require PEG feeding and associated care.
- Experience seizures and require appropriate seizure monitoring and management.
- Communicate non-verbally in their own individual ways.
You will receive and must follow the appropriate care plans, risk assessments, protocols and training for all aspects of their support.
The support you will provide

What will your day look like?
No two days will be exactly the same. Your role will include:
- Getting to know each lady as an individual and building a positive, trusting relationship.
- Supporting them to make choices and have as much control over their lives as possible.
- Learning and respecting their individual methods of communication.
- Supporting activities they enjoy, including music, crafts, the gym, day-centre activities, shopping and trips into the city and wider community.
- Encouraging new activities and experiences based on their individual interests.
- Providing PEG feeding and PEG care in line with individual care plans and training.
- Recognising, monitoring and responding appropriately to seizures.
- Following individual seizure management plans and emergency protocols.
- Accurately recording seizure activity and reporting any changes or concerns.
- Supporting medication administration where required and appropriately trained.
- Providing personal care while protecting privacy, dignity and choice.
- Supporting safe moving and handling, including hoisting, positioning, wheelchairs and specialist seating.
- Maintaining clear and accurate care records.
- Working closely with families, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
- Supporting the ladies through their eventual transition into their new supported living home.
- Helping to create a home that feels safe, happy, welcoming and truly theirs.
Who are we looking for?
Previous care/complex care experience is essential.
Ideally, you will have experience in some or all of the following:
- Complex care.
- PEG feeding and PEG care.
- Seizure management.
- Supporting people who communicate non-verbally.
- Moving and handling and the use of hoists.
- Supporting wheelchair users and specialist seating.
- Personal care.
- Medication support.
- Person-centred care.
- Community-based support.
Just as importantly, we are looking for the right people.
You should be caring, patient, reliable and respectful, with a positive attitude and a good sense of fun. You will need excellent communication and observational skills and the ability to remain calm and respond appropriately when someone's health or support needs change.
You should understand that person-centred care means more than following a care plan. It means knowing the person, understanding what matters to them, respecting their choices and helping them get the most from every day.
