Job Overview
We are recruiting two motivated and reliable Assistant Passive Fire Engineers to join our mobile engineering teams, supporting the delivery of passive fire protection and compartmentation works across secure establishments throughout Yorkshire and surrounding northern areas.
Working alongside experienced Lead Engineers, you will assist with fire stopping installations, compartmentation repairs, and the application of approved passive fire protection products. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop specialist skills within the passive fire industry, with full technical training and clear opportunities for progression.
Due to the nature of the sites involved, applicants must already hold current, transferable CTC Level 2 clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Lead Engineers with passive fire protection installations and remedial works.
- Prepare materials, tools, equipment, and work areas before and during site activities.
- Assist with fire stopping installations and compartmentation repairs.
- Support the installation of passive fire products, including fire batt, mastic, collars, wraps, and other approved fire-rated systems.
- Follow technical instructions, survey requirements, and manufacturer installation guidance.
- Capture photographs and assist with completion of job records and compliance documentation.
- Maintain clean, organised, and safe working areas at all times.
- Follow secure-site procedures, including prison security requirements, access protocols, and tool-control processes.
- Wear appropriate PPE and comply with all company and site health and safety procedures.
- Participate in technical training and professional development programmes.
- Travel throughout the northern service area as required.
QualificationsEssential
- Current, transferable CTC Level 2 clearance.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
- A practical approach with the willingness to learn and develop specialist skills.
Desirable
- CSCS Card.
- Passive fire protection or fire stopping training.
- Manual Handling certification.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
- First Aid qualification.
- Previous experience within construction, maintenance, engineering, or passive fire environments.
