Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Home Chef to oversee the preparation and delivery of nutritious, appetising meals for residents. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring that all food safety standards are strictly adhered to. Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team in daily food preparation and service, ensuring efficiency and high standards.
- Plan menus that meet dietary requirements and preferences of residents, incorporating balanced nutrition and variety and adhering to IDDSI guidance food levels.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring timely delivery of meals in accordance with schedules.
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen operations.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and monitor stock to minimise waste whilst ensuring availability of ingredients.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and service standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to accommodate specialised dietary needs of residents.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment at all times.
- Serve meals to residents with professionalism and courtesy, fostering a welcoming dining atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food production, cooking, or culinary roles within healthcare environment.
- Supervising experience with demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, IDDSI, and hygiene regulations.
- Experience in menu planning and food presentation tailored to specific dietary requirements.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide staff members.
- Background in restaurant or hospitality service is desirable but not essential.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment, food preparation techniques, and serving practices.
- Previous experience in a nursing home or similar healthcare setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
