Job Summary
The successful candidates will work on a variety of projects involving utility installations, district heating networks, highways works and deep excavations.
As a Groundworker, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of civil engineering activities associated with the installation of underground utilities and energy infrastructure. Works will predominantly take place within highways, residential developments, schools and public sector environments.
Duties
- Carry out all aspects of groundworks associated with utility and civil engineering projects.
- Excavate, install and reinstate trenches in accordance with project specifications.
- Work safely within deep excavations, including excavations exceeding 1.2m in depth.
- Install ducting, drainage, utility pipework and associated infrastructure.
- Assist with the installation of pre-insulated district heating pipework.
- Operate small plant and equipment where appropriately trained and authorised.
- Install and remove trench support systems, including trench boxes and shoring systems.
- Carry out kerbing, paving, concrete works and reinstatements to highways specifications.
- Assist with locating and exposing existing underground services using safe digging practices.
- Work in accordance with approved RAMS, permit systems and company procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site safety at all times.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Groundworker within civil engineering or utilities.
- Proven experience working in deep excavations and around live underground services.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Good understanding of safe digging practices and utility avoidance procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
Desired Qualifications
- NRSWA Street Works Operative qualification.
- CPCS/NPORS Dumper ticket.
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
