Set in the picturesque village of Ripley, just north of Harrogate, you will find our Boar's Head Inn, a coaching Inn with 23 bedrooms and a busy restaurant and bar.
We have an exciting opportunity for a dependable, honest and self motivated candidate to join our loyal and hardworking team. We are looking for an individual to join our team working across Friday to Monday nights each week, from 11pm to 8am over the 4 nights. Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.
Main purpose of the Job:
- To ensure overnight security of the Inn and Castle grounds.
- To carry out any reasonable request to ensure the comfort and care of our residents.
- Set up breakfast tables & buffet area for the following morning
- Aid the closing team to complete the end of night jobs list
- To communicate with the reception team / management with any overnight issues
Responsibilities and Duties:
Security
- Maintain security of the Boar’s Head Inn and Castle grounds.
- Security of public car park.
- Lock up all external entrances including Boar’s Head annex.
- Report all incidents/accidents to the receptionist at handover.
Customer Care
- Check in late arrivals.
- Check out early departures.
- Serve residents with late requests for beverages in the lounge or in their rooms.
- Action all early morning calls.
- Cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Act upon any customer complaints and take appropriate action.
- Abide by the Fire and Health & Safety at Works Act.
- Flexibility to perform any additional duties in order to effectively perform your job.
Essential Requirements
- Ability to self-motivate and work alone.
- Excellent telephone and meet and greet skills.
- Personal appearance, hygiene and uniform must be of a high standard at all times.
- Exceptional timekeeping
- Basic bar experience
- Good command of the English language
Desirable Requirements:
Previous experience in hospitality and night work.
Working Conditions and Benefits:
- Shifts: 9 hour shifts / Full time (36hrs over 4 nights per week).
- 5.6 weeks holiday per annum (Inclusive of public holidays.)

Other duties:
- From time to time you may be asked to undertake other duties on the Ripley Castle Estate and training will be given if this is deemed necessary.
- All staff on the Ripley Castle Estate are expected to adopt a flexible approach and are encouraged to contribute new skills and ideas.
- Over time your key duties may change and your co-operation will be expected where such changes are reasonable
Pay: £13.30 per hour
