Medispec Ltd is expanding its panel of psychological experts and is looking to connect with HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologists who are interested in undertaking independent medico-legal assessment work.
This opportunity can work particularly well for psychologists who already have an established clinical role and would like to undertake additional professional assignments without committing to fixed working hours.
The Role at a Glance
As part of our expert network, you will assess clients referred in connection with legal claims and provide an independent psychological opinion based on your professional assessment and the available evidence.
Assignments may be completed remotely, with face-to-face appointments available through our network of clinic venues across the UK.
Your Involvement
Depending on the instruction, you may be required to:
- Complete a structured psychological assessment with the claimant
- Consider relevant medical and background information
- Identify and evaluate psychological symptoms and functional impact
- Provide an independent clinical opinion within your area of expertise
- Complete the required assessment documentation
- Review and approve the final medico-legal report before it is issued
Who We Are Looking For
You should have:
- Current HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist
- Appropriate professional indemnity insurance
- Valid ICO registration
- Good knowledge of psychological presentations, including PTSD and trauma-related difficulties
- Strong clinical assessment and report-writing skills
- An understanding of professional boundaries and the responsibilities of an independent expert
Previous medico-legal experience is advantageous but not essential, as support and guidance are available.
Working Arrangements
There are no fixed working hours. Cases can be offered according to your availability and geographical preference.
The majority of assessments can be undertaken remotely, while clinicians should be willing to undertake occasional face-to-face assessments where required.
Support From Medispec
Our administrative team assists with the practical aspects of each case, including appointment coordination and case administration, allowing you to concentrate on the clinical assessment and expert opinion.
Training and guidance are also available for psychologists developing their medico-legal expertise.

Pay: £100.00 per hour
