About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to support the quality assurance of learners undertaking an NEBDN Dental Nursing qualification.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing learner portfolios and quality-assuring assessment decisions made by Assessors, ensuring that assessment processes are fair, consistent, accurate and in line with NEBDN requirements.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Dental Nurse, Assessor or IQA who has strong knowledge of dental nursing education and assessment and is looking for flexible, portfolio-based work.
Key Responsibilities
- Review learner portfolios and evidence against the relevant NEBDN assessment requirements.
- Quality-assure assessment decisions made by Assessors.
- Check that learner evidence is sufficient, valid, authentic and appropriate to the assessment criteria.
- Ensure assessment decisions are fair, consistent, accurate and reliable.
- Review portfolios across the required units and identify any gaps or areas requiring further evidence.
- Ensure Assessors are applying assessment criteria consistently.
- Provide constructive feedback to Assessors where improvements are required.
- Maintain appropriate IQA records and documentation.
- Follow the centre's Internal Quality Assurance plan and procedures.
- Identify good practice, inconsistencies or areas requiring corrective action.
- Support the centre in maintaining high-quality assessment and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure all quality assurance activities are conducted in accordance with current NEBDN requirements and relevant policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional standards when handling learner information.
Essential Requirements
- GDC Registration: Current, active registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a Dental Nurse, Dentist, or Dental Care Professional (DCP).
- IQA Qualification: A recognized Level 4 IQA qualification (e.g., Level 4 Award/Certificate in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, V1, or D34).
- Occupational Competence: Demonstrable, up-to-date occupational knowledge and clinical background in Dental Nursing.
- Awarding Body Familiarity: Direct experience working with the NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing syllabus and electronic portfolio platforms (e.g., PebblePad) is highly desirable.
Pay Rate
£330 per completed portfolio, negotiable.
The exact scope of each portfolio review, expected turnaround time and payment arrangements will be agreed with the successful candidate before work begins.
