Veterinary Receptionist – West Road
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our organisation as a Veterinary Receptionist.
This position is based at our West Road site, with occasional cover required at other sites to support during holidays or sickness.
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week role, working four 10-hour shifts with Saturdays and Sundays on a rota basis, currently 1/6 Saturdays and 1/12 Sundays (subject to change)
About the Role
We are looking for an individual with excellent front-of-house and communication skills, who can provide outstanding customer service to our clients and their pets.
You will be working in a fast-paced environment within a busy veterinary hospital that provides a 24-hour emergency care service. As part of your duties, you will handle routine and emergency cases
The ideal candidate will be confident working both independently and as part of a supportive team.
Previous veterinary reception experience is not essential, as a comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Greeting clients and their pets in a warm, professional manner.
- Managing appointment bookings and maintaining the clinical diary system.
- Handling client queries in person, by telephone, and by email.
- Processing payments, issuing invoices, and maintaining accurate client records.
- Supporting the clinical team by preparing paperwork and ensuring smooth workflow between reception and clinical areas.
- Managing admission and discharge of patients, including taking payment and providing clients with relevant aftercare information.
- Assisting with insurance claims and processing prescription requests.
- Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating empathy and understanding in sensitive situations.
- Supporting emergency admissions and communicating effectively with the Out of Hours team.
- Ensuring the reception area is tidy, welcoming, and well-presented at all times.
