Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant

We are currently looking for an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join an established family-run building and roofing company working across Cheshire and the North West.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised, reliable and confident managing the day-to-day financial administration of a small construction business.
The Role
You will be responsible for keeping the company's financial records accurate and up to date, including:
- Raising and processing sales and purchase invoices
- Recording payments and expenses
- Bank reconciliations
- Managing supplier invoices and payments
- Credit control and chasing outstanding payments
- Processing timesheets and assisting with payroll
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Managing CIS-related administration
- Liaising with suppliers, customers and subcontractors
- Assisting with VAT returns and general accounts administration
- Providing regular updates to company management
- General office and administrative duties when required
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounts role
- Experience working within a construction or trades environment would be highly beneficial
- Good understanding of CIS and subcontractor payments
- Experience with VAT and basic bookkeeping
- Good knowledge of Excel and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organisation and time management
- Ability to work independently and manage their own workload
- Good communication skills
- A reliable and professional approach
