Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our restaurant's kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent leadership/organisation skills, and be able to remain cheerful and calm during busy periods.
This role involves overseeing food preparation, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring the delivery of high quality dishes that meet our standards of excellence. The Chef will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and creative culinary environment.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes - our menu is mostly pub classics with a few interesting additions, however this can be updated if there are any dishes you would like to add/change
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency and great presentation
- Manage food safety protocols and maintain hygiene standards in compliance with health regulations
- Develop new dishes to go on our specials board
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock control
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with bar staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment at all times
- Be willing to take any courses or obtain relevant qualifications if management requires these (we will arrange and pay for any courses that we need you to do once you are employed)
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management
- Supervising experience
- Extensive knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- The ability to multitask under pressure
- Ability to innovate with new recipes while maintaining consistent quality
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and management
- Applicants with up-to-date hygiene certificates preferred
Wage negotiable depending on experience!
Hours are also negotiable but you will need to be able to work full shifts for at least 2 nights a week, someone who is available to work 5 nights a week is preferable (we are open 7 nights a week but you will be given 2 nights off, you will need to liaise with our other chefs to agree on a rota)
Please note that although our restaurant has previously only been open until mid-September, we are hoping to keep our bar and restaurant running longer this year, so chefs who are available after season are preferred.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
