GMP Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of one of Cambridge's most prestigious colleges for an experienced Chef de Partie to join their professional and highly regarded kitchen team.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collegiate environment renowned for delivering exceptional catering standards to Fellows, students, conference delegates, and guests. Working alongside an experienced brigade, you will play a key role in producing high-quality food while developing your culinary skills within a supportive and well-equipped kitchen.
The Role
As Chef de Partie, you will work closely with the Head Chef and Kitchen Management Team to prepare, cook and present food to the highest standards across a variety of services, ensuring consistency, quality and excellent customer satisfaction.
You will be responsible for managing your own section, maintaining exceptional food safety and hygiene standards, supporting junior members of the brigade, and contributing to menu development and the continuous improvement of the kitchen operation.
This is a full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present high-quality dishes to the College's exceptional standards.
- Manage your designated section and ensure efficient daily service.
- Work alongside the Kitchen Management Team to deliver meals for Fellows, students, guests and events.
- Contribute ideas towards seasonal menus and new dishes.
- Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, HACCP and food safety compliance.
- Ensure accurate allergen awareness and food labelling procedures are followed.
- Receive, check and correctly store deliveries using effective stock rotation practices.
- Monitor food quality, preparation and presentation throughout service.
- Ensure kitchen cleaning schedules are completed and maintained.
- Train, coach and support junior members of the kitchen brigade.
- Provide cover across other kitchen sections when required.
- Assist with general kitchen operations and undertake additional duties as directed by the Head Chef.
About You
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis/Senior Commis Chef ready for the next step.
- Experience working within a busy professional kitchen environment.
- Passionate about producing fresh, high-quality food.
- Excellent understanding of food hygiene, HACCP and allergen legislation.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining exceptional standards.
- A positive team player with excellent communication skills.
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and varying shift patterns.
- Keen to develop professionally through ongoing training and coaching.
