Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Person to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities and equipment. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairs, with an emphasis on safety and efficiency. The Maintenance Person will play a vital part in maintaining a safe, functional, and well-organised environment, supporting both operational needs and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery, electrical systems, and building infrastructure.
- Diagnose faults using schematics and technical diagrams, implementing effective repair solutions.
- Perform welding and mechanical repairs as required to maintain equipment integrity.
- Manage electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repairing wiring, switches, and control panels.
- Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to monitor and adjust equipment performance.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Supervise junior staff or apprentices during maintenance tasks, providing guidance and leadership.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance work performed for reporting purposes.
- Assist with the training of team members on proper maintenance procedures when necessary.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimise downtime.
- Taking responsibility for the overall fire safety management of the home, including monitoring fire precautions, ensuring regular fire drills and checks are completed, maintaining accurate records, addressing risks promptly, and promoting a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- To be available on call in case of any emergencies within the home and to provide support and guidance as required.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical components, welding techniques, and PLCs.
- Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and manuals effectively.
- Proven experience in maintenance roles within industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
- Leadership qualities with previous supervising experience preferred.
- Good communication skills in English for clear reporting and team coordination.
- Customer service orientation to ensure internal clients’ needs are met professionally.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude towards troubleshooting issues promptly.
