Full-Time Personal Training Coach
30-35 Hours per week
BAM Training | Chivenor, North Devon
We’re looking for a full-time coach to join the team at BAM Training.
BAM is a small group personal training gym built around one simple idea: great coaching should help people feel stronger, more capable and more confident in what their body can do.
Our sessions are capped at just 6 people, which means this isn’t about standing at the front of a class and running everyone through the same workout. You’ll get to know the people you coach, understand what they’re working towards and adapt their training around their individual ability, experience and limitations.
A big part of what makes BAM different is the environment we’ve created. Many of our members are people who haven't previously felt comfortable in traditional gyms, so being friendly, approachable and able to make people feel at ease is every bit as important as your technical coaching knowledge.
Ultimately, we want every member to walk out of BAM feeling better than when they walked in.
What you'll be doing
Your main responsibility will be delivering exceptional small group personal training sessions in line with BAM's coaching standards.
Alongside coaching, you'll:
- Get to know our members and build genuine relationships with them.
- Adapt sessions to suit different abilities, goals, injuries and training experience.
- Create a safe, welcoming and non-intimidating environment.
- Help members stay consistent and make progress over the long term.
- Maintain a high standard of presentation across the gym and coaching floor.
- Welcome potential new members, show them around BAM and help them understand how we can support them.
- Support occasional BAM events, social activities and content creation.
- As you develop within the role, contribute ideas to our programming alongside the Head Coach.
Who we're looking for
You’ll need to be a Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer, but we're much more interested in finding the right person than finding someone with a long list of qualifications.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Genuinely cares about the people they coach.
- Is friendly, confident and approachable.
- Has great energy without feeling like they have to be the loudest person in the room.
- Takes pride in delivering a brilliant coaching experience.
- Wants to continually improve their coaching knowledge and ability.
- Is reliable and takes ownership of their responsibilities.
- Enjoys being part of a team and actively supports the people around them.
- Is open to feedback and wants to be coached themselves.
- Wants to build a career in coaching rather than simply treat it as a job.
Most importantly, you need to enjoy coaching people.
You don't need to know everything on day one. If you've got the right attitude, foundations and desire to improve, we'll invest in helping you become a better coach.
What we offer
- Full-time employed, salaried position
- 28 days annual leave
- Ongoing professional development and education
- Regular internal coaching development and feedback
- Opportunities to take on greater responsibility as BAM grows
- Unlimited access to train at BAM
- Quarterly team lunches and events
- The opportunity to build a long-term career within a growing independent coaching gym
We take coaching seriously and want BAM to be somewhere that great coaches can develop, take on responsibility and build a career.
If this sounds like the sort of environment you'd like to work in, we'd love to hear from you.
