Woods Fleet Support is looking for a reliable and motivated Yard Shunter to join our team. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles around our yard and depot, as well as collecting and returning customers' vehicles and trailers to their depots across the North West. You'll play a key role in supporting workshop operations and ensuring vehicles are where they need to be, on time
Rates of pay discussed during the interview process, dependent on experience.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely move vehicles and trailers around the yard and depot.
- Collect and return customers' vehicles and trailers to depots across the North West.
- Position vehicles for workshop repairs, inspections, collections, and deliveries.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
- Maintain a safe, organised, and tidy yard environment.
- Accurately record vehicle movements and complete relevant paperwork.
- Work closely with the workshop, transport, and operations teams to coordinate vehicle movements.
- Deliver a professional and courteous service when dealing with customers.
- Follow all company policies, health and safety procedures, and road transport regulations.
Requirements
- Class 1 License, CPC and Tacho (essential)
- Previous experience as a yard shunter, vehicle mover, transporter, or in a transport/automotive environment is preferred.
- Experience towing trailers or driving larger commercial vehicles is desirable.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong awareness of vehicle safety and attention to detail.
