Job Purpose
We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Greenkeeper to join our team and help enhance our members and guests experience of the golf course by ensuring that the course and surrounding areas are presented and maintained to a consistently high standard, so they exceed the expectations of members and guests, as agreed with the Course Manager and First Assistant to maintain our championship course.
As Assistant Greenkeeper, you will assist in the maintenance of the golf course, mowing, raking bunkers, setting up holes, whilst assisting with some of the more complex tasks for turf management under the Course Manager and First Assistant.
Shift Pattern
Varying shifts 5 days over 7
40 hours per week
Every third weekend with a day off in lieu the week after
Key Responsibilities
Course Maintenance
- Mowing all playing surfaces
- Raking bunkers
- Setting up the course, including changing hole locations and marking hazards
- Aerating and irrigating turf
- Repairing divots and other damage
Turf Management
- Assisting with the application of fertilisers, pesticides and other turf care products
- Participating in turf establishment and renovation projects
- Controlling weeds and other pests
Equipment Maintenance
- Assisting with the operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment
- Reporting any equipment issues to the Workshop Technician
Other Duties
- Assisting with the propagation of grass and other plants
- Maintaining records of work performed, materials used, and staff attendance
- Working within health and safety guidelines
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Undertaking any other duties as required by the Course Manager or First Assistant
Qualifications and skills
3 years experience in the industry
NVQ2/Level 2 Certificate in Golf Greenkeeping
PA1/PA6/PA2 with solid spraying experience desirable
Chainsaw certification CS30/31 with sound experience desirable
A wide range and depth of experience in all greenkeeping practices
Team player with good communication
An eye for detail with good observational skills and initiative
