Yolk Recruitment is working with a well-established manufacturing business in the Ammanford area to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent three-shift rotation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer looking to join a stable and growing manufacturer that continues to invest in its people, equipment, and production facilities. You'll play a key role in maintaining plant performance, supporting production targets, and driving continuous improvement across the site.
As Mechanical Engineer, you'll be responsible for:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across manufacturing equipment and machinery
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency
- Undertaking basic electrical fault finding and supporting electrical repairs where required
- Completing welding and fabrication work to support breakdown repairs, equipment modifications, and improvement projects
- Maintaining mechanical systems including bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce recurring faults
- Working closely with production teams to ensure maximum machine availability
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company standards
The experience you'll bring to the team:
- A recognised engineering qualification such as an Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent
- Strong mechanical maintenance experience gained within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
- Basic electrical fault-finding experience and confidence working on multi-skilled maintenance tasks
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Experience working with mechanical drives, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- A proactive approach to fault finding and problem solving
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
