Rochester Independent College is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and dynamic sports coach who is able to coach multiple sports and fitness activities to our students. This would include off-site sports such as football, rugby, cricket, tennis and badminton as well as providing support to our students using the gym on-site. The successful candidate must be able to coach football and will be responsible for managing the sixth form football team in its training and matches.
This is a sessional term-time position (36 weeks) of approximately 10 hours per week across four afternoons/early evenings.
At Rochester Independent College we take our sport provision seriously and aim to provide our students with an enriching experience developing sporting skills and promoting fitness for all. The Sports Department at RIC has made excellent progress over the last few years with high increases in student sports participation, especially across the lower year groups. Our intention is to build on this and achieve a stronger sporting presence within our sixth form community.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Leading and developing an exciting extra-curricular sporting programme for our day and boarding students
- Planning, preparing and delivering on/off site sports/activity sessions after school
- Assisting with Lower School PE lessons, where applicable
- Managing bookings of venues/transport
- Coaching the Sixth Form football team and organising fixtures
- Actively promoting sports/activities and a healthy lifestyle amongst the student body

Founded in 1984, Rochester Independent College in Kent is a day and boarding school offering a distinctive alternative to both traditional independent education and the highly selective grammar schools. Classes are small. On average there are 8 students in each group with a maximum of 12.
