Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Chef to oversee and manage culinary operations within an established busy Bar + Grill restaurant. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in food production and kitchen management, and a passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences. This role involves supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes excellence in food preparation and service. Previous grill experience and good knowledge of steak, cuts, quality beef cuts.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, including chefs, cooks, and support staff, to ensure smooth daily operations
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet quality standards and customer expectations
- Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards
- Coordinate with the restaurant management team to plan menus, organise staffing schedules, and optimise workflow
- Train and mentor junior staff to develop their skills in culinary techniques and customer service
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control waste to maintain cost efficiency
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained properly and operated safely
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience within a food production or hospitality setting
- Extensive background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Experience in a busy grill restaurant environment preferred
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with staff and management
- Previous experience in hospitality or culinary roles such as chef or cook is highly desirable
