Your Role as a Forklift Operative
The Forklift Operative plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, production efficiency and compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing facility. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to safely operate forklift, reach trucks and counterbalance trucks as part of material movement and quality-control processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor product quality at all checkpoints and escalate any deviations immediately.
- Ensure traceability is maintained through accurate completion of paperwork and digital records.
- Verify product specifications, packaging, labelling and batch information.
- Assist with line start-up, changeovers and shutdown checks.
- Work with production, quality and engineering teams to maintain smooth operational flow.
- Monitor equipment, reporting any faults or abnormalities.
- Safely operate forklifts, reach trucks and counterbalance to move materials, packaging and finished products.
- Load and unload vehicles and move pallets across production and warehouse areas.
- Comply with food safety, hygiene and allergen control procedures at all times.
- Carry out metal detection, foreign body checks and other quality-critical tasks.
- Follow all H&S regulations, including reporting hazards and participating in toolbox talks.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment.
What We Are Looking For:
Essential:
- Experience working in a manufacturing or similar production environment.
- Valid and up-to-date forklift, reach truck or counterbalance licences.
- Strong understanding of quality checks, CCPs and food safety standards.
- Ability to work 8 or 12-hour shifts and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a CPC, QA or production controller role.
- Experience working in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Knowledge of stock control systems.

We have shifts available on a continental rotation of days and nights, (12-hour shifts) 07:00 – 19:00 and 19:00 – 07:00 and on a 3-shift rotation (6:30am – 2:30pm, 2:30pm – 10:30pm, 10:30pm-6:30pm)
