We're Hiring – Heavy Truck Fitter | Scunthorpe
Thompson Group 365 is looking for an experienced Heavy Truck Fitter to join our engineering team based on the site in Scunthorpe.
Working alongside our plant fitters, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing faults and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy commercial vehicles and plant, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and operational.
You'll be working on:
- HGVs
- Skip wagons
- Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) vehicles
- Road sweepers
- Grab wagons
- Tippers
- Hook loaders
- Vacuum tankers
- Welfare vehicles
- Diesel-powered mobile plant and associated equipment
The role includes:
✔ Planned servicing and preventative maintenance
✔ Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical fault finding
✔ Breakdown response and repairs
✔ DVSA inspections and defect rectification
✔ Welding and fabrication repairs (desirable)
✔ Working safely within a heavy industrial environment
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience as an HGV Technician, Heavy Truck Fitter or Commercial Vehicle Mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience working on hydraulic systems
- A full UK driving licence
- A positive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship
