Deputy Nursery Manager – Ashford

A highly regarded Ofsted early years setting in Ashford is continuing to grow following its expansion. We are looking for an experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to support the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day running of the setting, provide confident leadership to the team and help maintain consistently high standards of care, learning and safeguarding.
Pay and hours:
· £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
· Full-time hours
Key responsibilities:
· Support the Nursery Manager with the effective day-to-day operation of the setting and take responsibility in their absence.
· Lead, motivate and support the nursery team, helping to maintain a positive, professional and child-centred working environment.
· Ensure practice remains fully aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), safeguarding requirements and nursery policies.
· Oversee the quality of planning, observations and assessments, ensuring each child's individual learning and development needs are met.
· Support staff deployment, daily routines, handovers and the smooth organisation of rooms across the setting.
· Build strong, professional relationships with parents and carers, responding appropriately to questions, feedback and concerns.
· Maintain accurate records and consistently high standards of health, safety, hygiene and safeguarding throughout the nursery.
What we're looking for:
· A Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification is essential.
· Previous leadership experience within a nursery or early years setting, ideally as a Deputy Manager, Third in Charge or Room Leader.
· Strong working knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding procedures and the standards expected within an Ofsted-regulated setting.
· A calm, organised and proactive leadership style, with the confidence to support staff and make sound day-to-day decisions.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with children, families and colleagues.
· Willingness to complete the required training and checks, including paediatric first aid and an enhanced DBS check.
