ABOUT US
Horizon Holiday Parks is a growing operator of holiday parks across England and Scotland, providing guests with exceptional outdoor holiday experiences set against some of the UK's most spectacular landscapes. Our parks feature holiday lodges, static caravans, touring pitches, glamping facilities and extensive communal outdoor amenity areas.
Almost everything we do commercially now begins online, whether that is a family searching for a short break, an owner looking at holiday homes for sale, or a guest deciding between us and a competitor on the strength of a few photographs. This role exists to make sure that first impression is a good one, consistently, across every park and every channel.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a capable and self-motivated Digital Marketing Assistant to support marketing activity across all four Horizon parks on a part-time basis. You will help plan, produce and publish content across social media, email, our website and our listing platforms, and you will be the person who actually gets things live rather than just planning them.
A significant part of the role happens on park. Good marketing for a holiday park depends on fresh, genuine content, so you will spend time at our sites capturing photography and video, meeting the teams, and understanding what makes each location different. The rest of the week is a mix of office work and flexible working, planning campaigns, editing content, scheduling posts and reporting on what worked.
This suits someone early in their marketing career who wants real ownership and variety, or an experienced marketer looking for part-time hours with genuine responsibility. You will work directly with the Head of Operations, so your ideas will be heard and acted on quickly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Social media
- Help build and maintain a rolling content calendar covering all four parks, balancing holiday home sales, holiday lettings, park events and seasonal messaging.
- Write, schedule and publish posts across Facebook, Instagram and other relevant channels, adapting tone and format to each platform.
- Monitor comments and messages, respond promptly and professionally, and escalate sales enquiries and complaints to the right person on park.
- Support the setup, monitoring and reporting of paid social campaigns, including audience targeting and creative testing.
- Build engagement with local groups, tourism pages and partners in each park's area.
Content capture and production
- Travel regularly to our parks to photograph and film units, facilities, grounds, events and the surrounding area, building a usable library of current content.
- Produce short-form video for social channels and listings, including walkthrough tours of holiday homes and letting units.
- Capture and edit clean, well-lit property photography suitable for the website, listing platforms and sales material.
- Apply the Horizon brand consistently across everything produced, so all four parks look like part of one company.
- Keep photography, video and design files organised, named sensibly and easy for others to find and reuse.
Email marketing
- Build and send email campaigns to owner, guest and enquiry audiences, including offers, park news and event promotion.
- Maintain accurate, well-segmented mailing lists and ensure all activity complies with data protection and marketing consent requirements.
- Test subject lines, send times and content, and use the results to improve open and click rates over time.
Website and listings
- Keep the Horizon website current, including park pages, holiday home listings, pricing, availability and news.
- Create and maintain accurate, well-written listings for holiday homes for sale, with strong photography and clear specifications.
- Support listing content on booking and letting platforms, keeping descriptions, photographs and amenity information accurate and competitive.
- Apply basic on-page SEO to new and existing content, including page titles, descriptions, headings, image naming and internal links.
Reporting and support
- Report monthly on channel performance, covering reach, engagement, website traffic, enquiries generated and campaign results.
- Log and route incoming digital enquiries so nothing is lost between the marketing channel and the park team.
- Keep an eye on what competing parks are doing online and flag anything worth responding to.
- Support wider marketing activity as required, including print material, signage, event promotion and ad hoc projects.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Essential
- Practical experience running social media for a business, brand or organisation, whether in employment, freelance work or a formal placement.
- Confident writing skills, able to produce clear, engaging copy free of errors and in a consistent brand voice.
- Ability to capture and edit good photography and short-form video using a phone or camera.
- Comfortable learning and using digital tools, including scheduling platforms, email marketing software and website content management systems.
- Well organised and reliable, able to work independently across a three day week without close supervision.
- Good judgement when dealing with customer comments and complaints in a public setting.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to parks in England and Scotland, including occasional overnight stays.
Desirable
- Experience in holiday parks, travel, tourism, hospitality or property marketing.
- Working knowledge of WordPress or a similar content management system.
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Zoho Campaigns, Mailchimp or similar.
- Experience running paid social campaigns through Meta Ads Manager.
- Basic design skills using Canva, Adobe Express or the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Business Profile or basic SEO practice.
- A qualification in marketing, media, communications or a related subject.
HOW SUCCESS WILL BE MEASURED
- A full, current content calendar delivered across all four parks without gaps.
- Growth in audience size and engagement across our social channels.
- Volume and quality of sales and letting enquiries generated through digital channels.
- A current, well-organised library of photography and video covering every park.
- Accuracy, completeness and presentation of website and platform listings.
- Speed of response to comments, messages and enquiries.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
Weeks 1 to 4: Visit all four parks, meet the teams and understand what makes each site different. Audit our current social channels, website and listings, and identify the obvious gaps.
Weeks 5 to 8: Establish a working content calendar and a regular posting rhythm. Begin building the photography and video library and correct the weakest listings.
Weeks 9 to 12: Deliver the first monthly performance report and propose a simple digital marketing plan for the coming season.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Negotiable salary, based on experience and the value you bring.
- Part-time hours over three days per week, with the working pattern agreed to suit both sides.
- Pro rata annual leave and a company pension scheme.
- Mileage paid for travel to parks, with overnight accommodation covered where required.
- Staff discounts across Horizon Holiday Parks.
- Real ownership of our digital presence, working directly with the Head of Operations.
- Beautiful locations to work in and photograph, across Scotland and the north of England.
- Scope for the role to grow in hours or responsibility as the business does.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a part-time role worked over three days per week. One day will be office based, with the remaining time split between visiting parks and flexible working. The exact pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate and reviewed as the role settles.
Travel to our parks in England and Scotland is a routine and enjoyable part of the job, and occasional overnight stays will be required for the more distant sites. Content capture takes place outdoors in varying weather, so suitable clothing and a practical approach are needed. Some flexibility around events, launches and peak periods will occasionally be asked for and given back.
HOW TO APPLY
Please apply with your CV and a brief covering letter. Include links to social media accounts, campaigns or content you have produced, along with a short note on what you would change first about how a holiday park like ours presents itself online. Examples of your own photography or video are welcome and encouraged.
Horizon Holiday Parks is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability or background.
