We are a corporate and commercial law firm made up of senior lawyers with deep expertise in how to help businesses and their leaders achieve their goals. As the business continues to grow, we're looking for an Accounts Assistant to support our Finance Manager and help keep the finance function running smoothly, accurately and on time.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you'll support all aspects of day-to-day finance, with particular ownership of accounts payable and credit control. This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys the detail and wants to be a genuine right hand to the Finance Manager as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities

Process supplier invoices and manage the accounts payable inbox, ensuring accurate coding, approval and timely payment

Run and maintain the purchase ledger, including supplier statement reconciliations and query resolution

Own credit control: chase outstanding debts, manage the sales ledger, and maintain positive client relationships while protecting cash flow

Prepare and process payment runs

Support month-end tasks, including accruals, prepayments and reconciliations

Assist with bank reconciliations and day-to-day cash management

Maintain accurate financial records and support audit and compliance requirements

Provide general administrative and ad hoc support to the Finance Manager across the wider finance function
About You

Previous experience in an accounts assistant, finance assistant, or bookkeeping role

Confident with accounts payable processes and credit control

Comfortable working with accounting software Xero is essential

Strong attention to detail and comfortable working with numbers under time pressure

Good communication skills, with the confidence to have constructive conversations around outstanding payments

Organised, proactive, and happy working both independently and as part of a small team

AAT qualification or equivalent experience desirable but not essential
