Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Gardener to join our dedicated team at Millbridge Care Home. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the beauty and functionality of our extensive grounds. Your expertise will help create a welcoming outdoor environment that promotes well-being and comfort for our residents and visitors alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, applying your gardening skills in a rewarding setting.
Duties
- Maintain lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees using hand tools, power tools, and gardening equipment to ensure a pristine appearance.
- Implement irrigation systems to keep plants healthy and thriving, adjusting watering schedules as needed.
- Prune, trim, weed, and plant new flora to promote growth and aesthetic appeal across the grounds.
- Conduct landscape maintenance tasks such as edging, mowing, fertilizing, and soil preparation.
- Assist with seasonal planting projects and garden redesigns to keep outdoor spaces vibrant throughout the year.
- Monitor plant health and identify pests or diseases early to prevent damage; apply horticultural treatments when necessary.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure outdoor areas are safe, accessible, and inviting for residents and visitors.
- Additional hours will be available at peak times, some light maintenance work my be required
Experience
- Proven growing experience with a strong understanding of horticulture principles.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, such as ride on mower, strimmer etc, and irrigation systems for landscape maintenance.
- Knowledge of gardening techniques suitable for various plant types and outdoor environments.
- Prior experience working in landscape maintenance or gardening roles is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for gardening combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with health and safety standards related to outdoor work environments is preferred.
