The Academy of St Nicholas is a vibrant, inclusive and faith-driven secondary school in South Liverpool, committed to ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, care and support for every student.
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and committed Operational Safeguarding Lead to play a key role in our safeguarding team. This is a vital post in ensuring that all students feel safe, supported and able to thrive
The Role
As Operational Safeguarding Lead, you will:
- Lead on safeguarding referrals and act as the main point of contact for external agencies including Social Care, police and early help services
- Act as the lead professional for students subject to Child Protection or Child in Need plans
- Coordinate and monitor safeguarding and wellbeing support across the school
- Work collaboratively with staff to provide guidance on child protection, welfare and mental health
- Represent the Academy at multi-agency meetings and contribute to assessments and plans
- Support the development and implementation of safeguarding systems, training and policy
- Ensure high-quality information sharing and record-keeping in line with statutory guidance
This role is central to the Academy’s safeguarding provision and requires strong professional judgement, resilience and a child-centred approach.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Has substantial experience in safeguarding, child protection or pastoral care
- Has a strong understanding of statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. KCSIE)
- Demonstrates excellent communication and multi-agency working skills
- Is highly organised and able to manage complex and sensitive casework
- Has a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children
