Loddon School is more than a residential school, it is a home for 30 children aged 8-19 with profound autism, who are non-verbal and have severe learning difficulties, resulting in highly challenging behaviours.
We approach things a little differently at Loddon, offering home-based style education, with no classrooms, children learning through play and experience new life skills. We see every opportunity as a learning opportunity and use the PLUSS curriculum to engage children in learning and prepare them for adult life. We strive to ensure each child has an enhanced quality of life, and we do this by being innovational, encouraging, inspiring and holistic.
An exciting opportunity has come up to work closely to support education and care colleagues in promoting and maintaining an environment for the children consistent with the highest standards of education, care and wellbeing and achievements of the children.
The role involves supporting the teacher, running activities in their absence, motivating others in terms of education activities, recording data and having a good level of literacy.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching, facilitating daily activities and contributing new and creative ideas to help the children learn. As a positive role model, you will play a key role in advocating for and promoting the safety, wellbeing, and best interests of the children every day.
Experience working within a similar setting or an educational background.
Supporting qualifications such as a Level 3 Residential Child Care Diploma would be desirable.
