An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Class 2 Driver to join our team based at our Heston site.
About the role
To ensure vehicle and equipment used for delivering stock is operated in a safe and secure manner in order to minimise risk to the general public, co-workers and the environment. To drive the vehicle to its destination both efficiently and legally, and to accurately and responsibly deliver stock to customer locations and leaving the locations in a secure state when complete.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
What you will do:
>Conducting daily walk around checks on vehicle and trailer to ensure roadworthiness, observing and communicating any defects and completing relevant documentation
>Observing and ensuring load security. Using appropriate load restraints to secure load and ensuring vehicle and equipment are safe for travel
> Driving the vehicle safely with consideration for vehicles, pedestrians and vulnerable road users
>Driving the vehicle in accordance with the law, EU Drivers hours regulations, and the Road Transport Working Time directive
>Communicating any delays or issues to the relevant persons
>Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and equipment, internally and externally
> Accessing unmanned stores, locking them back up and re-arming alarms following delivery

What We're Looking For:
Person specification:
> Class 2 licence
> Current Driver CPC card & Digital tachograph card
> Good knowledge of health and safety
> Good level of numeracy and literacy
> Attention to EU Drivers hours regulations and Road Transport Working Time Directive
> Flexibility in start and finish times and shift lengths
> Ability to communicate effectively
> Security focused
> Ability to work alone for long periods
Physical demands
> Access & egress of Vehicle
> Closing and opening of barn / roller doors
> Strapping and securing load
> Lifting / manual handling
> Moving pallets with use of a pallet truck
> Operating tail lifts
> Walking from the truck to delivery access points, can be reasonable distances
> Multi drop
Shift times
> any 5 over 7 days worked between 08:00-18:00 with a degree of flexibility to meet the demands of the business
> 46.25 hour week
