THE ROLE
As Study Manager, you will be responsible for leading customer studies from initiation through to completion, ensuring that scientific objectives, timelines, documentation standards and customer expectations are met.
This experienced role requires someone who can operate independently and consistently at a high standard, with the confidence to coordinate multiple studies, support complex or developmental work, and guide study teams through changing priorities.
The ideal candidate will combine strong scientific understanding with excellent study management, customer communication, data interpretation, and team-coordination skills. They will understand the “why” behind each study, use that context to plan and troubleshoot effectively, and help ensure that RoukenBio continues to deliver high-quality, customer-relevant data.
WHAT WE EXPECT YOU TO DO
Key responsibilities:
Study delivery and customer management
Manage routine and complex/developmental customer studies from start to finish, ensuring customer objectives, study quality requirements and agreed timelines are met.
Oversee multiple studies of different types across customers, maintaining a high standard of delivery within each individual study.
Understand the question the customer is trying to answer, the context of the study and the appropriate quality level required and use this to guide planning and decision making.
Communicate regularly with customers and internal stakeholders at relevant milestones so that progress, risks, results and next steps are clear.
Scientific oversight, data interpretation and troubleshooting
Work with scientific teams to design practical, efficient studies that generate meaningful data and meet the overall study goal.
Interpret data as it is produced, identifying good results, emerging issues and opportunities for prompt troubleshooting or study refinement.
Apply assay understanding to proactively mitigate errors, identify potential problems and contribute to robust scientific conclusions.
Team coordination, training and laboratory planning
Schedule study activities effectively, balancing team capacity, study needs, equipment availability and customer milestones.
Train and brief the study team so that everyone involved understands the customer needs, the study plan and the “why” behind the work.
Maintain long-term assay quality by proactively monitoring reagent supply, assay performance and future project needs.
Documentation, quality and compliance
Prepare and review customer analysis plans, protocols, reports, data updates and study communications that are clear, accurate, client-ready and delivered on time.
Conduct thorough technical review of study documentation, checking scientific accuracy, completeness and consistency.
Follow and promote GDocP and ALCOA+ principles, keeping training current and supporting timely completion of deviations, change controls, risk assessments and audit responses where relevant.
Uphold high laboratory standards and health and safety expectations, constructively challenging poor practice where required.
Continuous improvement and commercial support
Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, study workflows and training, contributing to or leading improvement projects where appropriate.
Develop a questioning mindset, challenge the status quo constructively and support a culture that is resilient to change.
Support commercial activity when required by contributing scientific input to customer discussions, proposals, technical responses and account growth opportunities.
