Job Overview
We are seeking a sharp, hands-on Inventory Controller to own inventory accuracy across our Coventry site. This is a step up from a standard stock-control role: you'll be the go-to person for investigating discrepancies, running cycle counts, keeping our WMS data watertight, and making sure our customers' inventory is managed exactly as our contracts and SLAs promise. You'll work closely with warehouse operations, customer service, and tech team to keep everything running tight and you'll have real input into how we improve inventory processes as we scale.
If you like getting to the bottom of "where did that stock go?", thrive on process and precision, and want genuine ownership over an area that matters to the business, this is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Monitor daily inventory movements; receipts, put-away, transfers, replenishments, picks, dispatches, and returns.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies within agreed timelines.
- Monitor stock status across available, allocated, quarantine, damaged, and returned inventory.
Stock Audits & Cycle Counts
- Plan, coordinate, and complete daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts.
- Conduct scheduled and ad hoc stock counts as required.
- Investigate count variances and implement corrective actions.
- Support customer stock reconciliations and annual physical inventory counts.
- Produce inventory adjustment documentation with appropriate approvals.
Warehouse Support
- Work closely with inbound, pick/pack, and dispatch teams to resolve stock issues.
- Verify correct product identification, labelling, lot control, serial numbers, and expiry dates where applicable.
- Support inventory location optimisation, stock consolidation, and new customer implementations.
Customer Service
- Respond to customer inventory queries accurately and within agreed service levels.
- Prepare customer inventory reports and reconciliation summaries.
- Support customer audits and inventory reviews.
Systems & Reporting
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.
- Monitor inventory trends, flag risks early, and escalate recurring issues.
- Recommend and support testing of process and system improvements.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Support internal, customer, and external audits.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives across the warehouse.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in inventory control, stock accuracy, or a similar warehouse role, ideally in 3PL or e-commerce fulfilment.
- Solid working knowledge of WMS platforms (experience with Mintsoft is a plus).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a genuine eye for detail.
- Confidence investigating discrepancies and driving them to resolution, not just flagging them.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills, you'll be liaising with customers, auditors, and internal teams alike.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership, while collaborating across teams.
- Physically able to move inventory and be on your feet for extended periods when needed.
Why Join Farfill? What you'll get from us
- Real ownership: Inventory accuracy across the site is yours to drive, not just monitor.
- Direct impact: Be a key player in a fast-growing business where your work directly shapes customer trust and operational performance.
