We are recruiting for a Regional Business Development Manager to join a leading provider of engineered temporary works and groundshoring solutions.
This is a home-based, field-focused position covering Yorkshire, Lancashire and the Midlands, with responsibility for developing new business, increasing market share and building long-term relationships across the groundworks, civil engineering and infrastructure sectors.
The Role
The successful candidate will take ownership of business development across the region, identifying projects and engaging with customers at an early stage to develop commercially and technically appropriate groundshoring solutions.
Working closely with engineering and operational teams, you will develop opportunities from initial enquiry through to proposal, negotiation and successful project award.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities across the territory
- Building relationships with groundworks contractors, civil engineering contractors, infrastructure businesses and other key industry stakeholders
- Identifying upcoming projects and engaging with customers early in the project lifecycle
- Developing a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities
- Understanding customer requirements and working with engineering teams to develop appropriate groundshoring solutions
- Preparing and presenting commercially competitive proposals
- Negotiating contracts, hire rates and commercial terms
- Developing relationships with key decision-makers and major accounts
- Maintaining accurate pipeline and sales forecasts
- Monitoring competitor activity and identifying opportunities to increase market share
- Working closely with engineering, operations and regional teams to ensure successful project delivery
About You
We are looking for an experienced sales or business development professional with a background in groundshoring, temporary works, groundworks, piling, ground engineering or a closely related civil engineering sector.
You should be comfortable operating in a technical, solution-led sales environment and engaging with contractors, engineers and other construction professionals.
Experience of products or solutions such as excavation support, hydraulic bracing, propping/strutting, trench support, sheet piling or temporary works would be particularly relevant.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A proven track record in business development or technical sales
- Experience within groundshoring, temporary works, groundworks, piling, ground engineering or specialist civil engineering
- Strong relationships within the groundworks, civils and/or infrastructure market
- A genuine new-business/hunter mentality
- The ability to identify and develop major project opportunities
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills
- The technical credibility to discuss customer requirements and work effectively with engineering teams
- Experience managing a regional sales territory and pipeline
- A full UK driving licence
