Delivery Driver & Practical Maintenance Operative
Wharfeside Hire is looking for a reliable, hands-on Delivery Driver & Practical Maintenance Operative to join our growing team.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys driving but also has strong practical, handyman-style skills. During our busy summer season, you will deliver and collect event equipment across Yorkshire. During quieter periods, you will maintain equipment, complete repairs and help improve our vehicles and warehouse.
This role is ideally suited to a practical all-rounder who can confidently drive a Luton van during busy periods and turn their hand to repairs, maintenance and warehouse improvement projects when not driving.
You don’t need to be a qualified tradesperson, but you should be confident using tools, diagnosing straightforward problems and completing practical jobs to a good standard.
The role includes
- Driving a company 3.5-tonne Luton van.
- Delivering and collecting catering equipment.
- Loading and unloading rolling cages, furniture and appliances.
- Providing a professional service to customers and venues.
- Inspecting, maintaining and repairing hire equipment.
- Completing practical jobs involving basic joinery, assembly and general repairs.
- Maintaining company vehicles and warehouse equipment.
- Building or adapting storage and operational equipment.
- Supporting warehouse improvements and stock control.
- Helping with general warehouse operations when required.
We’re looking for someone who
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
- Has experience driving larger vans, ideally a Luton.
- Is physically fit and comfortable with manual handling.
- Has strong practical, DIY or handyman-style skills.
- Can use hand and power tools safely and confidently.
- Can assess a problem and find a sensible solution.
- Works carefully and takes pride in the finished result.
- Is organised, dependable and able to work independently.
- Communicates professionally with customers and colleagues.
Experience in property maintenance, facilities, removals, event logistics, warehousing, engineering, construction or a similar hands-on environment would be advantageous.
Pay: From £25,350.00 per year
